Waiting for the Train

“With my journaling,” Stan began, “I have a favorite pen.”

“You don’t do your journaling on the computer?” I asked.

“Oh, no,” Stan replied. “I find there is a much better connection for me if I do actual handwriting. There is some sort of great connection for me between pen, paper, mind, and spirit.”

“Anyway,” Stan continued, “I lost my favorite pen yesterday.”

“Did you ever find it?” I asked.

“I looked everywhere. Some places I looked two or three times.”

“As a last resort, I prayed, asking for God’s help.”

“Did He help?” I asked.

“Yes, but only when I listened.”

“At one point I had the sense of being told to look under a particular stack of paper on my desk.”

Continuing, Stan said, “My immediate response to that sense was ‘I have already looked there three times.’”

“But the sense was for me to look again.”
